Too Quiet a Night !
Krall was stiff and dry, not connecting with the audience through the music until the last song before they left the stage, and then for the two encore pieces. So when they finally got into a groove, they left! I've been to four concerts at Ste. Michelle and the sound system has always been exceptional. This time, it was atrocious. Jesse Solomon's roadies and mixing engineer blew it big time. The lead guitar was too loud. Diana Krall has great technical skill. The beautiful Steinway sounded tinny, and sometimes you couldn't hear the left hand at all. I had great seats in Row L, center, and could barely hear the piano. I was hoping that her live performance would reveal some heart and fire within, but it wasn't to be. Next time I'll spend the $110 the ticket cost on a good bottle of single malt scotch and light my own fire.
